Claremont Residence

Brief

When the owners purchased this home, people were surprised it wasn’t being demolished. It needed to be brought back to life and extended to accommodate a combined family, plus outdoor areas needed to be capitalised on and northern light encouraged indoors. It also needed a new garage that would fit with the feel of the house.

Resolution

The house was restumped, rewired and replumbed. Sunken ceilings were sorted and some balustrades and decking replaced. The bottom floor – kitchen, dining, living and a lean-to – were reconfigured and repurposed into two home offices and a guest bedroom, plus a large open-plan kitchen and dining area with separate living, scullery, laundry and bathroom added. Upstairs were three bedrooms and one bathroom, so an additional bedroom and bathroom, plus large main bedroom with ensuite, walk-in robe and outdoor deck, were added. Outside, we helped the owner design the new picket fence and garage.
