Humphrey Homes Director and Founder Dean Humphrey

DEAN HUMPHREY - OWNER AND DIRECTOR

Dean Humphrey is the Owner and Director of Humphrey Homes which is a Cottesloe architect and building company. His passion for architecture and building started when he built his first home at the age of 20, in Kalgoorlie.

He established Humphrey Homes in 1999 and rebranded it in 2012, to be both a registered builder and architectural practice. Under his leadership the company has delivered many inspired homes which have won repeated praise from clients and industry bodies.

He travels overseas once a year to seek inspiration and design cues from new and emerging architecture and how that can be applied locally.

Dean's involvement with your home is very hands on: regular office and on-site meetings, plus constant emails and phone calls. His measure of success is very simple: a glass of champagne with you when you move in.

"So far, it's been a 100% success rate," he says.

Dean is the Immediate Past President of the Housing Industry Association WA having finished his two year term in March 2023, while still very much staying at the helm of Humphrey Homes. Prior to this he served as Vice President for two years. In these voluntary leadership roles he represented the building industry and its members, making sure their concerns were heard at the highest level. He has also been Chair of the WA HIA Technical Services Committee and represented Western Australia on the National Technical Services Committee, as well as serving on the HIA Regional Executive Committee for many years.

Dean lives in Cottesloe with his wife and three children and is actively involved in the local community.  He has been a member of the North Cott Surf Club since the early 2000s and starts most mornings there at 5.30am, both in the water and at the gym.  If you don't see him there, you'll catch him at Little Sup or Eric Chamberlain  grabbing a flat white on the way to the office or to site.

HELEN MARCHESANI - ARCHITECT

Helen's passion for striking architecture is evident the moment you meet her and is why she leads the Humphrey Homes design team.

She has worked in residential architecture for 25 years, having focused on high-end single residential for most of that time.

She spent a large part of her career with Philippa Mowbray Architects and also successfully ran her own architectural business, designing homes in the western suburbs.

"My passion and what inspires me most is the delight and excitement on clients faces as we work together.

I love architecture, design and fashion - anything to satiate and stimulate me visually - and being involved with clients homes and their lives on such a personal level is pretty special."

Helen is registered with the Architects Board of Western Australia and is a member of the Australian Institute of Architects. For the past decade she has assisted the Board by examining those new to the field. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture with honours from Curtin University.

Outside of work, she is an active mum to her teenage son and indulges in our coastal lifestyle. Most weekends are spent outdoors and often at the Trigg Island Surf Club, where she is a member.

KATIE BOSSONG - INTERIOR DESIGNER

Katie's love of architecture and interior design cultivated her passion for her career with her citing, "that there was never another career option as I knew from a child that this was my path."

Growing up in the South West, Katie moved to Perth in her early 20s and in 2012 completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Architecture at Curtin University.

Her experience in residential interiors and architecture is evidenced with the work she does with Humphrey Homes, as well as when she managed her own successful interior design studio for six years. She brings a level of sophistication and great industry contacts which enable her to source products and work with clients to cultivate ideas and solutions that best highlight how they like to live.

Katie's mantra is evidenced day-to-day when working with clients: "good design should be life changing and beautiful."

She adds, "Creating homes that are truly unique to our clients is what makes my job so special and rewarding. Getting to know our clients on a personal level so we can deliver them a unique home that truly represents them is my passion.”

When not working, she enjoys exploring down south and spending time with her husband and two young children.
