Floreat Residence

The clients wished to build a timeless, two-level family home, with a light, bright and airy feel, inspired by classic American architecture. The understated and classic home needed to withstand the “knocks” of family life, while delivering long-lasting quality and style.

Sited on a North-facing block with a park to the East, the home wraps itself around the gardens to integrate Northern light into the centre of the site and living areas. This planning allows tranquil vistas from each room, while the outdoor living spaces engage with the interior to enable passive supervision of children at all times. The external spaces remain private and contained within the resulting courtyard, yet capitalise on stunning Northern light entering over the single-storey, front portion of the home. In contrast, the sleeping areas on the top floor act as quiet retreats from the activity of the home, offering views to the treetops towards the park.

The home includes custom-designed timber windows and doors, hand-painted cabinetry, Blackbutt timber flooring, coffered timber and plasterboard ceilings, as well as extensive use of flamed marble tiling to the exterior courtyard. Donegal Road Residence provides a well-planned, bespoke home that can flex to the future needs of the client, while the comfort and durability inherent in the home allows family life to flourish.
